The short answer

Everything on Iron Leaks is general fitness information for healthy adults. It is not medical, diagnostic or treatment advice, and it does not replace a qualified clinician. Resistance training carries physical risk. Iron Leaks is independent of every gym chain, manufacturer, supplement brand, certifying body and government agency, and guarantees no result.

Iron Leaks publishes training and nutrition information for adults who lift, written by Cole Brennan, a strength coach and the site’s editor. He is not a physician, a physical therapist, a registered dietitian or a licensed clinician of any kind.

Not medical advice

Nothing published here is medical, diagnostic or treatment advice. No article diagnoses a condition, names a condition as yours, or prescribes rehabilitation. Where a topic touches pain, joints or age-related change, the article is a modification piece, not a treatment plan.

Talk to a qualified clinician before starting a training program, changing your diet, or acting on anything you read here, particularly if you are pregnant, managing a chronic condition, taking prescribed medication, or recovering from surgery or injury. If a clinician who has examined you says otherwise, follow the clinician.

Training carries risk

Lifting weights can cause injury. Barbells, dumbbells, machines and bodyweight movements all carry physical risk, and that risk rises with fatigue, poor technique, unfamiliar equipment and training alone without a spotter. Iron Leaks describes methods; it does not supervise anyone using them.

You are responsible for your own judgment in the gym: whether a load is safe for you today, whether your setup is stable, and when to stop. By using this site you accept that you train at your own risk, and that Iron Leaks and Cole Brennan accept no liability for injury, loss or damage arising from your use of the information published here.

When to stop and see someone

Stop training and speak to a qualified clinician if you have chest pain, pressure or tightness, shortness of breath out of proportion to the effort, dizziness or fainting, numbness or weakness in a limb, or pain that persists at rest, wakes you at night, or does not improve over a normal recovery period. This is a general prompt to get assessed, not a diagnosis, and it is not a complete list. Anything that worries you is worth a professional opinion.

Independence and results

Iron Leaks is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any gym chain, equipment manufacturer, supplement brand, certifying body or government agency. It carries no affiliate links, runs no advertising and sells nothing. Where a body such as the ISSN or ACSM is named, it is named as a cited source and nothing more. The full statement is on the about page.

No result is guaranteed. Outcomes depend on age, training history, genetics, sleep, nutrition, stress and consistency, and two people running the same program will not get the same result. Figures quoted from research describe group averages under study conditions, not a promise about you. How those figures are checked is set out on how we research.

Articles link out to research papers and other third-party sites for reference. Iron Leaks does not control that content and is not responsible for it, and a link is not an endorsement. Questions about this page go to [email protected].
